Chapter 4: The DepartureA Chapter by White RoseThis is the morning that the Suki family are leaving to Sanghai.Nara is woken by a rough tug on her shoulder. She awakes to Iani walking out and turning on her light. The light blinds and stings her eyes. She yelps in pain and throws her pillow over her face. "Get up," Iani yells at her from across the hall. Nara pulls the pillow off her head. She sits up in the bed and rubs her eyes. She pulls her covers off and stumbles over to the dresser. She pulls her surprise clothes out from their folded state. She unfolds a red shirt with hearts on it and a pair of black cargo pants. She changes from her Eyore pajamas into her clothes. In her camo vans, a pair of white ankle socks lies in each shoe. She pulls her socks on and slips into her shoes. She slinks into her bathroom and brushes her teeth and hair. She pulls her hair back into a ponytail that still hangs down to her hips. She puts her toothbrush and toothpaste in a ziploc bag. She grabs it, walks out, and puts it in her nave blue bag. She tightens it up, slings it over back, and walks out of her room. In the kitchen, Auk and Arcki are sitting on bar stools trying to refrain from falling asleep. Nara sits on the bar stool across from them. "Go ahread and nap I'll wake you," Nara says looking at the corner to her left. "Is there a reason why you don't look at us, Nara?" Arcki asks with sorrow in her voice. Nara shakes her head, "No". Actually, as soon as Arcki and Auk were born Iani told Nara taht they are and always will be better than she. Even now he still reminds her that they are. "Nara," Auk growls grabbing Nara chin and making her face forward, "look at me." Even though Auk made Nara face her she still resisted the look, instead, she closed her eyes. "Nara," Arcki's soft voice flows in Nara's ears, "please let us know why you don't look at us." "I can't, I promised I wouldn't," Nara says about to cry. Auk's face is filled with anger. "If you don't speak you won't-" "Time to go," Betha says from the living room. Nara pries herself from Auk's grasp and daskes out to the taxi van. She sits on the left seat next to the window in the middle. Soon, Iani, Betha, Auk, and Arcki walk out and pile into the van. Iani sits in the front passenger seat. Betha sits in the right seat in the middle. Aricka and Auk sit in the far back, next to the windows, as well. "To the airport," Iani tells the cab driver. The cab driver is an older gentleman with red and grey hair. He has a bushy beard that seems more a bush than a beard and his eyes and a unique emerald-blue. He shifts the gears from park to reverse. They start rolling backwards and to the right facing the open road. The driver slowly comes to a stop, shifts the gears again, and drive out onto the road. "So you lot going on a vacation?" The driver asks in a low deep voice. "No," Betha answers. "We are leaving for good. I have a job in Shanghai," Iani says. "Oh, well, I hope you lot have a nice live with the irish love high in your hearts," the driver says. He drives into the airport parking lot. He pulls to the front doors of the airport. Everyone piles out and grabs theirthbelongings. Iani pays the driver and walks into the building with the rest of the family following after. Once inside, Iani leads to the front desk. "I'll take the next person in line," shouted a crimson rose haired woman. Iani walkes up to her. "I ordered five tickets to Shanghai online," he says to her. "Okay," she turns toward her computer to her right, "What is your last name?" "Suki," he replies. "Oh, you must be japanese," she cheerfully states. "Yes," he replies. "Okay," she walks toward a weight watcher, "I need all the luggage that is going into the plane." Iani sets his luggage in the weight watcher, everyone did the same. The watcher displays twenty-five pounds. The woman types the weight into the computer. She puts the luggage on the moving isle. "Now, the stuff that will be placed onto the plane with you," she says. "Well, actually-" Iani says. A number of 1.5 pounds displays onto the watcher. The counterlady and Iani look down to see a small navy blue jeaned backpack. "Shall I count that?" The lady asks. Iani looks at the child whom he thought nothing of. "I should say no, she needs nothing," he thinks. "Sure," he answers looking at the lady. She types on the computer once more. She gives a soft smile to Nara and nods her head. "Take the bag," Iani says to Nara sternly. Nara grabs her bag and sweetly smiles back at the counterlady. The lady hands Iani five envelopes. "Have a good day," she says in a cheerful tone. Iani takes the envelopes and begins to walk off. Nara follows after everyone. "Have a good day," she quickly says beginning to run after the family. Nara bolts toward the family and stays close to them. Iani, soon, stops in a line. Auk eyes Nara, then at Iani, and back. She slinks over to Nara's side. "Dad says we must take our shoes off when we get up to the people. And you must put your sack in the bin with them," she whispers to Nara. Nara nods looking at the ground. They reach the table and do as they were told. They take their shoes off, puts them in a seperate bin for eachother, Nara pulls her backpack off and sets it in the bin with her shoes. She walks through a tall rectangular box, it beeps once. A security man nods at Nara. She steps in her vans and walks up to Auk who is waiting for her by a corner. They go sit next to Betha and Arcki. "Where's dad," Auk asks Betha. "He went to get food," Betha replies. Soon after Betha answers Iani shows up with a bag of food and a cup holder of 5 drinks. He hands everyone a cup. Nara is handed one as well. She takes a gulp and a painful shock goes through her back to her head, then in a flash, it's gone. Betha hands Nara a plastic box. It is nice and warm. Auk hands her a plastic fork, knife, and a napkin. Nara opens the box and the smell of beef fills her nostrils and right next to it are a handful of cashew nuts. Auk has the same as Nara. Betha has a chicken and cashew nuts. Iani and Arcki have mixed vegitables and cashew nuts. Nara stuffs her face with the soft, tangy beef and the crunchy, salty cashew nuts. She eats as if she's never had food before and savors the taste as if she's never going to get it again. "Slow down, Nara or you will get sick," Arcki says placing her hand over Nara's hand. Nara looks at Arcki's lips using her periferial vision to see her grey-green eyes staring at Nara then her hand. "Don't forget to drink your chocolate shake," Arcki says. Nara grabs her cup of shake that was sitting on the floor, under her seat, and presses her lips against the straw. "Not too fast," Arcki quickly warns. By this time , Arcki is confusing Nara. And she is making Nara feel as if she is much lower than Auk and Arcki. Nara must know, sne needs to know. "Arcki, why are you talking to me as if I've never eattin or drinkin before?" she asks. Arcki throws her hands over her open mouth. She is taken agasp. Nara still fixes her eyes on the place where her lips once were. "I-I didn't-" she stammers. "No," Nara says turning her head at the tray of half food, "I shouldn't have asked that." Nara sips her drink again then digs into her beef again. "Flight A-16 to Moscow, Russia has arrived. Flight A-16 to Moscow, Russia has arrived," the intercom says. Iani satnds up and begins to walk. Everyone follows after him. They get into a line that begins at nowhere and ends in no particular area, it seems. After a long hour, which seems to have been an eternity, the reach another desk with a tall blonde man. Iani hands him the tickets. The man looks them over, then hands them back to Iani with a nod and a generous smile. Iani nods his head and then walks on.
