The dance

The dance

A Poem by Nick Almanza
"

Just thinking bout how the Astec used to dance or indians

"

The beat of the drums

The pounding

His feet pounds on the ground

Smoke and fire filling the air

The man

He dances and pounds

His feet a blur

He screams and yells

With pride

For him and his people

The beats get faster

His painted skin becomes a blur

Beads shake and ratttle

Woops and yells

Fill the air

Nothing else could be heard

The ground begins to shake

The man ,still pounding and dancing with such speed,

Raises his head

And screams

Blessing the O helpful sun god

Stop

Beats

The man

EVerybody

And for a second

Slience

Then screams

Painted faces and bodies fill and dance

All worshiping

Their own ways

How i miss those ways
