Long Ago

Long Ago

A Poem by Cass Ashe

There was once a time
Not very long ago
I could configure a rhyme
And make my words flow
But it seems I have lost that
And the drive I now need
To a life I only scoff at
When into my past I read
Because there once was a day
In which I had so bright a dream
It shined the darkest night away
For a silver celestial seam
That broke with every thought
Possessing my conniving conscience
Like a lonesome caged dog ought
To break free in his defiance.
Defiance is shortcoming presently
With lonesomeness snuffing strong
All the life that harbors flow and rhyme
Throwing away meter for the distinct painful pleas
That nothing else seems to show.

About
There is no lasting definition of me, as I am endlessly seeking to grow and change as a person, but feel free to call me whatever you desire, as my pen name is only that- a pen name. My poetry is a re.. more..
