Love to LoveA Poem by Cass AsheWe love to love when the air is alive, encircling body and soul in a gust of something mind cannot contrive, and knowing that follow it we must, as forth we are called for our heat of passion that engulfs the spirit so. Befuddling my head like ships in a fleet, all thought drowning deeper each row, each stumbling wave, each lone gull, each breeze so fresh as to send me down to the beating behind my battered hull and like the mad king forswear my crown to a stranger never thought to take throne absolutely tugging the strings to command everlasting feelings now she should own with all the riches and all the land. My heart was never mine, nor seen it I, for it always belonged to some long forgotten faces who foresaw love die killing it 'til the true love makes strong. This dusty vase, this empty husk of a man of flesh and beatless blood waits for you at childhood's dusk, while our young love begins to bud and flower in the brash dayshine into the deep earth it takes root, bearing great petals from a lively vine, for in the spring come succulent fruit
