Soulbound

Soulbound

A Poem by Cass Ashe

Wander the world with me, my wondrous mystery,
and when the high tide strokes the starry sky,
then maybe you'll reveal yourself from the lights
and descend like a petal of stardust into my arms
so we can dance into the dusk's long eternity.

I know you not, kind anomaly calling my heart
but the universe's knowledge shall flood my head
upon our first tiny glace bound by that little red string
which has been guiding us from one to the other
through a labyrinth graciously puzzling all feeling.

On the off chance that we have brushed the same air
and felt the same raindrops on our skin alike
without paying mind to the arrows through our hearts,
then let us sling our worries away from the lightning
that strikes once, when fire burns as long as passion.

A bond shared through something soul-like will
appear to us in our dreams though we know it not
for a long night of fantasy is fleetingly forgotten,
like the old texts we shan't understand until
a relic of the past surfaces all feeling and thought.

There is no thing we can see pulling us together
except the lengths of time staying true to our
entangled fates, wrapped all about, ensnared by
the very mysteries we seek, and by the destiny that
awaits, as it does all soul mates lost like us.
