A Placed Called "Home"A Poem by CompellingComposerInspired by Lewis Carroll
In the night she wanders alone
Looking for a place called “home” She blames no one, knowing it her own fault For too far out into the world she did roam She’s been wandering for over a year And her never finding home is her only fear For home is where the heart is, she knows But is sorry, for her heart isn’t placed here Till one day she reacher a light Which burned her eyes, though it wasn’t too bright But was never-the-less shocking In her never ending night There, she saw table seating three All sipping their cups of tea A rabbit, a bear, and a cat dressed quite fine All seeming to have been waiting for she “Come, miss, sit a spell! For we know you very well,” Said the cat with a grin As she a chair upright that had sometime before fell “What brings you here?” the rabbit did ask “A journey or maybe a difficult take?” The young girl, now seated, said, “No.” “Well, a tourist then!” said rabbit. “Well, then, pour her a flask!” “I’m looking for my mom and dad. I’m sure they miss me, I know they’re sad. So,” said the girl, “if you could tell me the way I’ll be gone, surely glad.” Then, the bear thought of this Tugging his blouse he said, “Tsk, tsk! We have been here for very long And our families we do not miss!” The girl stood and said, “Well, I must be on my way. Sorry, but I cannot stay.” So, she bid them a farewell And went off on her way So, she still wanders alone Trying to find a place called “home” But blames no one, knowing it’s her own fault For too far into the world she did roam © 2011 CompellingComposerAuthor's Note
