The Raven.... ( Parody )A Poem by CompellingComposerI had to write this for my Language Arts class:)
Once upon a Monday dreary
While I slept, very weary Suddenly, while I was napping, there came a loud tapping For it was my mother rapping, rapping on my bedroom door “ Wake up!” she called loudly. I replied, head under my pillow, “Nevermore” Oh yes, I do remember the fuss For it was the the 25th of August And the place I strongly dreaded was waiting for me Eagerly I wished June- and wished that it would come soon But school was awaiting me Presently, I grew more sleepy, biting my tongue no longer “ Mom,” said I, “ truly your forgiveness I implore; But the fact is that I was napping, and so rudely you came rapping Rapping at my chamber door And when I heard you, as you opened wide my door I realized my fate, and nothing more.” Out of my chamber, turning, all my happiness gone and burning And again I heard her yelling, much louder than before “ Surely,” said she “ you could move much faster! ” And this routine, never changing, always goes the same And my eyes are quite tired, my body feeling lame Everyday, those dreaded days, when she opens my door All I ever want to do is scream, “ Nevermore! ” © 2010 CompellingComposerReviews
