Words Were His World

Words Were His World

A Poem by Commanda Panda

Can’t take the silence.

Must hear the scribbling.

Can’t look at a blank page.

Must mark up everything.

Write me a note or a letter.

Send me a memo about anything.

Give me a book or a nook.

I’m afraid of the quiet that creeps into my head…

I read a book recently about the creative process, where the authors, through interviewing hundreds of writers, had found a way to define the process as a series of steps. It was a fascinating read. The first step, these folks argued, has to be a boredom and ennui and discontent in your life so deep that you are forced to pick up the pen and start drawing on blank pages just to shut out the sneaking fear that you are growing old and life is passing you by and you have not done a damn thing with it. Without that fear, we cannot undergo the process of recovery, otherwise known as the insanity of creation. Writer's block is simply the waiting period for your life to suck enough in the right way; doodling is how we avoid the big messages coming through.

there is a Latin term for the fear of a blank space which applies to writing and /or doodling to fill up as page...it is known as hora vacuii...thought you'd enjoy that little tidbit of worthless trivia.....great write!

The knowledge isn't worthless. I can use it to confuse somebody.

right then, off you go! glad i could give you ammunition for future tedium....
i think it should be a note or a letter in a pen-smeared scrawl, the words should meander across the page like a trail or adventure, they wshould lead somewhere to a heart, or to the top of a wise, old hill

you've seen the words before, each and every one of them, but this time they will make your heart jump, this time they will make you smile

i don't know what any of it means
