I am about as romantical as a box of rocks - but what I like about this is it has a "real" element to it. Love isn't always Romeo and Juliet. Often its more like Al and Peg Bundy. I think the line that got me was the last one: I come bearing gifts with the baggage that I bring. Its how most of us are.

Sometimes, learning to love is just like taming a wild creature, isn't it? You can't make any sudden movements, you need to talk in a soothing voice, get it used to your touch. Very often, they would rather sit out in the cold than come near a warm hand, for how many times hands have hurt. Unfamiliar places, smells, sensations. Overhwelming senses, especially in the daylight. Night-time, though, can be a different thing altogether. The real nature comes out. The animal loses some fear and looks for a warm bed. The mistress becomes the hunted and captured. One can revel in mental disequilibrium and no-one would ever know the difference in the morrow's daylight strains.
