And this is to my peril
The world is against me
So I must be feral
Paranoid? No sir
I’m clear in my perception
I could look into your eyes
And never see reflection
Evolution is real
But you were never worthy
You’ve read me repeatedly
But have you really heard me?

The world is against me so I must be feral. WOW. I could go off on a happy little tangent on that one phrase right there, but you don't know me so there is still time for me to hope that I don't revolt you at first glance. I'll refrain. But its a powerful statement and now its going to churn in my head for the rest of the day. Evolution is real but you were never worthy. Another stellar line. Some of us plebes - we never sprout appendages and step out of the mud bath. Ever. And the last two lines: Formidable. I get it on a personal level. I'm not often read but when I am I"m misconstrued - but I'm still slaloming through the swill - so I suppose I've never really said much that merited a listen. Great poem

Great quick little rhyme. For some reason it made me think of the chorus to the song "Tourniquet" by Marilyn Manson. "Take your hatred out on me/ make your victim my neck/ you never ever believed in me/ I'm you tourniquet." Manson's version is just Okay. A band called "Rasputina" do a great cover of it. So does another band called "Bile." I was probably reading the poem to the beat of "Tourniquet." I unconsciously read poems to song beats all the time.
