Too Young To Die

Too Young To Die

A Poem by Jills
"

Wrote this in high school, back in '07 after going to a program put on for all the seniors about being safe at prom.

"

As I stand there in the grass

A tear rolling down my cheek

Watching them lay my friend to rest

I stopped and asked myself what if?

What if the other driver had one less beer?

What if she was left earlier?

What if she didn't leave when she did?

Would she still be here now?

Why did it have to be her?

You think "It won't happen to me

Or to someone else I know"

But then one day it happens

No other feeling in the world can compare

To the loss of someone so dear

All the memories that you had

Are now all in the past

Does anyone know why this happens

Why people chose to drink and drive

When if they just put the drink down

They could spare a life

No one should be put through this

Of all the deep pain

Watching someone being put in the ground

Never to live again

So standing here

Crying for what could have been

Never to see them again

They were too young to die

What are some helpful suggestions to help with the flow? Does it sound right?
