Murderface

Murderface

A Poem by Comewhatevermay

Caught in a flash flood,
It washes over me.
I peel it off in return.
Hold it away,
Pinched between fingers,
Careful not to soak it in.
{Register, Rebuke, Repeat}

Never promised anything,
'Cept half-hearted insights,
And maybe boring expectations.
Pull out the box, Fold me at the seams,
File the truth between lies and wishful thinking.
{Compacted, Cubed, Choking}

She said, she said, "Say it and I'll show you how much you don't love me."
"Every time you feel the urge, just remember oh, how little you really know me."
He said, "Please." But I don't want to.
It just reminds me of everything.
{Now one & the same, this is the game.}

The taste sticking in my mouth,
If you could only see me now,
You'd call me out.
But I'm so far gone,
Distance my only destination,
And I've lost patience.
{I've got nothing but murderface for you.}

When the murderface is shown, it is time to cut your losses and run, before being consumed by them, and you are forgotten for who you are, only talked of in hushed tones of who you used to be. The bitterness can seep from one to another, the safest thing for all concerned is to get as far away from patient zero as possible, for all diseases choke and overtake, consuming all in their path.
Really powerful image in your words, this is what you made me become...But you always knew you were still inside the pain and hurt, waiting until you could roar. Superb read.
