Ghost

Ghost

A Poem by Comewhatevermay

I dreamt of you last night

For no reason at all

I wish...

      I wish...

I wish...

I could forget

the texture of your hair

curve of your back

flesh on bones

Muscle/stone

laugh

rare smile.

After all this time,

Your ghost won't leave me alone.

On occasion

If I am still

And think only of you

I can feel the thaw

And I catch just a glimpse of that feeling I used to have.

It reminds me of being young

And in love

But I am not.

Please, just leave me alone.

You f*****g disappoint me.

It is the little memories that take us by surprise. Someone with the same hair, suddenly shocks us into "is it? It can't be, can it?" mode, while other times it can be something said that reminds you of that person. But then, sooner r later, reality bites and we all say that last line sometime n our lives. Beware the ghosts :)
Beautifully penned.
