A Chapter by ToAlexandria
"

The first five poems in my book.

"
HELLO, ETERNITY
It is the defeatist in me
Who has given up on the light-
The starts, the sun, the silver lining-
The hope that when tomorrow comes
(Or, should I be so inclined,
"If" may be a better word)
That when I wake up
I would awake a better man.
Though I am nothing but a sinner.
Hello, eternity.
So, we meet again.

ARCHON

I am the wind that whispers the trees

That carries the crimes of the last cynic's seats

The waning, and warning, the battles and blood

The trials of liars, their silver-leafed tongues

As serpents spit venom, and drunks choke on rum.

I, still eternal, steal chance to run

I persist through the cosmos whilst you come undone.

The fever, the fervor, forever.

Amen.

CHIMERICAL

I have found myself guilty

Of crimes I cannot commit

Beyond my shut eyelids

While climbing atop the stars

Put on trial by fire

By a Hellish frozen heart,

I will awaken once more

With nothing at all.

A POEM

I have had all

And I have had none.

Neither is more advantageous, at all.

GOD OF THE GRAVES

The windswept wars of the deaf and the blind;

Take to the streets! Proclaim! For my God has died.

Is that not enough? Do you need more?

Congenital is destruction upon the human heart-

Required to be "human" at all!

This cyclone of attack and defend-

What can we do, but accept this harsh truth?

For it was God, who gave us society.

As such society is violent, should it be said same for Christ?

But from mandates of order, we retaliate.

For violence, it seems, is our heart, and our nature.

What permeates through to the depths of the soul.

Yes, the soul! The very soul itself.

Where is your science now?

Evolved past its primitive roots

To route of whence it began.

FOR MY GOD IS DEAD! Must I say it again?!

Killed by though human hands, matter of fact.

"Rejoice!" You will say, "be proud and give way!"

You claim that you've cured the dastardly plague.

But cling to your guns

And all that you've done.

For your "God" shall be next to the grave.
