Unperceived

Unperceived

A Poem by Comatose

A star fading as goes on time

Unperceived by any mind

A mockery of what once was there

The dimming light that once was fair

The leaves falling onto the earth

Frigid eyes devoid of mirth

The black capped waves upon the sand

Green meadows now barren land

The rising sun devoid of light

Midday sky as dark as night

The bird's sweet chirp now like the crow

Gaiety seems so long ago

The cruel, cold cry of the seagull

Almost striving to be Death's equal

Golden tresses long turned grey

Now comes the breaking of the day

Blissful numbness too long delayed

Lies long attempting to persuade

The truth of what it never was

Untruisms of 'just because'

Farewell to one who won't return

The aching, hurting, longing yearn

Of what is known can never be

Ere it whisks the heart to the sea

The ocean of endless regrets and tears

Reminds the heart of all the years

The coming, the leaving, comes to a rest

Memories far too long suppressed

Facing the truth, I have no choice

Fond memories, I must rejoice

A small smile amid the tears

Ridding the heart of all these fears

Tresses reclaiming their gold

Matured eyes no longer cold

Happiness floods, replacing sorrow

No longer dreading every tomorrow

Embracing life with all my might

Slowly regaining the strength to fight

Eyes smiling with love to share

The star glowing with light to spare

And sun shining yet forever bright

A sprited candle newly alight

Oh second chance for a second breath

Wash away the pain of death

Deeply breathe bitter salt air

Cleansing me of all despair

Newfound reason shifts and blends

To sooth my thoughts and make amends

To help gain what was always meant

To strive ahead until my body is spent

Ever reaching up into the blue

Ever striving to be more like you

The day will come when the waves are calm

A time when flames will no longer embalm

Someday, you will know all that I can be

Someday, you will see just how much you inspired me

Someday, someday soon, we shall once again walk hand in hand

Not caring where we’re going, leaving our footprints upon the sand
