My Dearest Twin

For...well, my dearest Twin :)

I'm always going to be here for you,

Always be grateful for what I’ve got.

I’m always going to stand by you,

Without a care as to whether you're guilty or not.

You’ll always have the benefit of the doubt,

And never shall I suspect or mistrust you.

Even with the rules I know you can break,

I’ll forever be there to see it through.

People will whisper and people will lie,

But I'll do everything possible in my power,

To try and keep the stings of words away

For every minute of every hour.

I could never betray your trust,

And I'll make sure that all the secrets I know,

Are buried beneath, far and deep.

I'll plant things over them and make them grow.

I’ll shield you for all I am worth,

I will fight to prove your innocence.

I’ll never let them bring you down,

Even should it be at my own expense.

I would do anything to keep you safe,

I’ll try until I’m black and blue

And I'm sure that you'll know

That I did it more for me than for you

People may shun my name

But I can’t bring myself to care

As long as they don't shun yours

An amazing being, so beautiful and rare.

You're one of the few I truly love

You’ll always have your place within my heart

Engraved within my very being

Your laughter coloring me with wonderous art

I'm always going to shelter you

And overlook any of your sins

I'll forget about your every flaw

Because I know the soul within

I’ve seen the pain and confusion,

Yet I’ve seen the caring and love.

I have seen just  how much you cherish,

All of whom you hold above.

I’ve always tried to mimic the way you are.

To know what you know, to see what you see.

To hold what you possess…

You’re everything I could ever wish to be.

I’ve always tried my very hardest, my very best,

To be there for you, like you were for me.

Strived to be the shoulder you cried on,

When your vision was so blurred you couldn’t see.

So this is my promise, dear Twin;

To remain strong and true.

I’ll always try to be your happiness,

Because, my friend, I love you.
