Saccharine Lullaby

Saccharine Lullaby

A Poem by Comatose
"

Blah

"
Gazing upward towards this starless night,
My thoughts unfurl around your face.
Your blue green eyes that lost their light,
Still, you're tied to me in strings of lace.
Revenge was an irresistible vice,
That tasted sweet from lips that lied.
Your heart and soul were the price,
Your submission to venomous pride.
There's a hole left from when you fled,
Raw, screaming even all this time after.
But it's a subtle pain that never bled,
Only felt in my memories of laughter.
Slowly, you purged all you ever had,
You trapped your dreams within your fist.
Your will is wrath, now iron-clad,
Childish illusions long since dismissed.
Still, I crave long-forsaken years,
When life was a saccharine lullaby.
Before innocence was lost to tears,
Before we left our dreams to die.
