One Day of RestA Poem by ComatoseOne day, that's all I need I'll be back tomorrow To smile for you, to laugh for you, To hide my pains and scars Behind a smile that seems so true
Tomorrow I'll be ignored again And be demeaned by my so called friends To leave me alone would be best So today, please, just let me rest
I don't think they realize that I hear The hurtful words, which fall so carelessly from their lips Which I smile at or pretend to ignore Because I will not cry, Not like so many times before
To die, I feel, would be much easier than Smiling as I lie Or laughing as I sigh Or silently screaming in my pain As they call me yet another name
I'll never let them see The one that's truly me As I fight to hold my mask Which is run through with cracks
So please, just for today, let me be saved From the humiliation and shame That seems to visit everyday From the decietful tongues of friends And the light which their lies bend From the glares I recieve on my way That assure me I can't stay
And the love I'll never feel, but always see Too far from my grasp, as my smile escapes me
So today, just let me rest And I'll come again tomorrow With a mask of grins and laughs That shuts away my sorrow © 2010 ComatoseAuthor's Note
