Histri(onic)

Histri(onic)

A Poem by Christina Marie

I love you.

Cobweb-filled head; each string
a taut bitter memory
refusing to break.

I love you.

Real-life Victoria's Secret; smashed, tarnished mirrors distort
a radiant beauty reflecting--a lie.

I love you.

Stone-cold affection; (affliction)
body tense, teeth clench
embrace conflicted, each kiss laboriously resisted.

I love you.

Fixated eyes on pixilated screens; success
through little quests and tallies, leaving legacy to all the other
refugees: "Finite Escape Leaves Family in Runes"

I love you.

Desperate last attempts to play pretend
(play the part become the part)
Just so you know, I will still love you
if this play
ever
ends.
