Manic

A Poem by Colton Warr

Manic Thoughts,

thoughts in knots,

For, answers he sought,

And for Love he fought,

If her touch slowed time,

It also slowed his mind,

Match that with the wine

….what a happy time

Hands around hips,

Until sanity slips,

Until sin-stained lips

Until it wasn’t the same,

Until it became un-tame,

words cause pain.

Who do we blame?

In the night an eclipse,

Seeing her on trips,

And so he reveals his scripts

Is there love in his wine?

Is there love in his rhyme?

Is there love in his crime?

Still, upon him, she climbs

So fast, seeing spots,

spots that cause brains to rot,

In a night filled with shots,

Still, they remain….

Manic Thoughts

Naked

A Poem by Colton Warr

No army, no protection,

No smoke, no misdirection,

Nothing enhanced or filtered,

Nothing edited or glittered,

No silver and no gold,

Everything was given up, it all was sold,

I wore no armor, I wore no coat,

I wore no fancy shirt nor did I gloat,

In fact,

I had no shoes, I had no socks,

I had no shirt, there were no locks,

No combination to get in, No code,

No price of admission, nothing owed,

I even removed my briefs,

so that you could see all of me,

The real me, as God intended it to be,

As it was us in the garden,

not Adam and Eve,

There was nothing in that room but my love for you,

And there was nothing on you but what you had been through,

There was no past,

there was no future,

There were no Kings and Queens,

There were no rulers,

There was nothing on me but me,

My Dove,

When I told you that it was you...

that I love.

Thank you very much, Ryanna! I appreciate you giving this a read and am glad you enjoyed it!
Out of the two, I do love the second one more. But the first one is also lovely and thoughtful. I have a friend who is bipolar and this is almost how he describes his relationships. He f***s them up after he goes into 'manic' mode. It is very sad to hear about.
The second one, like I said, I love it. Very real when you are letting yourself be open and revealed to someone as whole and true. Naked and vulnerable. I absolutely love the use of the Adam and Eve, making me think of made for eachother and innocence (like how they were before they ate the apple), and the use of the word Dove is very good as well because it makes me think of peace. No fear in letting yourslef be so vulnerable with someone you so deeply care for.

I got the song stuck in my head again, dang it.
I enjoyed both poems, but the second one really had something special about it. Stripped naked of every possession and a clean slate to work on tells me there is much love here. Well done Colton.

You are very welcome Colton.
I like this one, and the contrast of both poems is very effective. My favourite has to be the second though. Love the rawness here.

Don't we all get a lil mantic and naked about love...there are some really great lines in that second half that could stand alone ...so you could see all of me...As it was us in the garden...I can hear this as a spiritual rap almost...the rawness...kinda like when an animal bares their teeth...fierce..natural...
