...In Time...

...In Time...

Another Dose...

…In Time…
A Poem by Colton Warr

As the slaves were when the clouds would block out the North Star
I am lost without you
You have changed the way I see things, my gaze upon afar
There has been a coup
As my eyes connect to yours, I am removed
Past, present and future, you are my view

As time ticks on you give the illusion that it stands still
I am captivated by you
You are timeless, however, so why wait until
There has been a coup
I promise you the world, they all ask who?
I promise you my heart, it will always belong to you

I see you on a sailboat, somewhere lost at sea
And if I am lost in your sea, tell no one to rescue me
I see your return to Africa, yet you are with me
And if you would take my hand, would you be my South African Queen?
I see you on a blanket, somewhere beneath the stars
And if a bottle of wine is involved, I hope we go way too far
I see you and your smile, rocketing me to Mars
And if you are choosing me, I can only hope I’m up to par
I see you in my arms, on a porch swing on a lake
And if you would be my chef, I would consume anything that you’d bake
I see you laughing in Southeast Asia, a laugh so perfect for goodness sake
And if you told me that you loved me that would be the icing on the cake
I see you with our kids, there would be no better mom
And she would look so beautiful, if you dressed our daughter for prom
I see you walking down the aisle, my heart in your palm
And if you said “I do” my heart would detonate like a bomb

If I must conclude this note, this oath, this dose of my heart
I would conclude it by saying, you hit the bull’s-eye, my dear, when you threw your dart
If I must cease to adore you…no wait I could never
I would, if you’d let me, adore you forever

As you walk down the aisle, dress a colorful white
I cannot help but think, how could you be mine?
As you stare into me, on this warm summer night
I cannot help but think, how could you be mine?
If this feeling is a mountain, then I am ready to climb
Let’s make this feeling eternal, a never ending prime
As I hold both of your hands at an altar, I would have no words for your glow, as if I was a mime
As I lose myself in you, into your heart, into your soul, I fall in love with you, In Time.

A little rough in terms of cadence or any sort of structure, there were moments but then it kept changing. Very pretty words, and a great idea, perhaps it's more a formatting issue than anything else.

Nicely penned,
