Spirit of AttractionA Poem by ColoursOfTheKeysWhat makes us attracted to someone? So much information about someone can be gathered from a distance without even speaking to them. What makes one pretty girl interesting but another not?In a sweeping sea of faces, one shone bright above the rest. My eyes returned for more, and more, they have a penchant for the best. She caught them at it, once or twice, I doubt it was hard to do, but it wasn't long until my mind, was looking at her too! Days passed and it became habit, to turn and take a glance, it seemed that just a little too often, I was caught, or just perchance? Was the beauty a projection of the inner? It was difficult to perceive. My mind made up, I had to approach, but alas, it was time to leave. A year had passed, and I returned, curiosity, hope, anticipation. Emotions well rewarded by, seemingly mutual attraction? But to my dismay my mind betrayed, my increasingly salient interests. Doubts, fears, irrational ideas, products of adverse experiences. Why did she look? Was I hideous? No, perhaps she's simply curious. Or is this wishful imagination? Delightful but merely spurious. Frustratingly caught in passivity again, my opportunity lost that beckoned, I was left with but one question: Would it come again, at the first, or second?
