Parents

Parents

A Poem by Colorado Brian

They are our makers

The first ones we know

When we are a newborn

Beginning to grow

They hold us, They love us

With such tender care

Whatever our needs

They're always aware

They teach us to live

They teach us to talk

They're standing beside us

When we learn to walk

They teach us to read

They teach us to write

They teach our heart peace

Avoiding the fight

They teach us to study

For our mind to grow

All of the knowledge

We ever could know

They teach us to think

With our mind and our heart

They teach us society

And playing our part

We love them so much

So deeply we care

Sadly we lose them

And feel such despair

We wish we could have them

For just one more day

So many things

We wanted to say

We honor their memory

In how we behave

Remember the good times

And bad times forgave

Our parents are gone

We know where they went

We treasure the moments

The times that we spent
