Friendship

Friendship

A Poem by COLLYMORE
"

This poem deals with the essential quality of trtue friendship as apart from the convenient sort.

"

By Stanley Collymore

Life is about living, hopefully

without major complications.

Feelings are the means whereby

we explore and test the mettle

of our character and where

exactly we want to go.

Love is about giving openly

and freely of ourselves to

those we care for

without the selfish

thought of

what’s in it for me?

Or how my act of giving

will benefit me financially?

But friendship, more than any of these

on its own, is the corner stone and

the uniting force that firmly binds

the several interlocking strands

of those positive elements

in our individual life.

A legacy that will live on long

after we die; because it was

something that was freely

and genuinely given, and

on which the recipient

could safely rely.
