Purity

Purity

A Poem by Nicole

Take my hand, walk in arms
To a place of secrecy, polite charms
And childish affection, replace
A world of failed redemptions with
Fresh beginnings, promise to erase
The bigotries of cinematic lovers,
Give me reason to share their spaces and
Melt in the cauldron of romantic endeavors…

Where bodies are secondary, the soul
Sleeps under quiet covers, warmed
By selfless romantics, waiting to unfold
In passionate chapters, the prelude
Sustained, delays the unfurling lips
Of the first kiss, and I'm left destitute
Of the conclusion, where time expands
The story beyond our eager fingertips…

There's a patience that quietly awaits,
Pressed against our chests, inside the embrace
That heals our hearts and beckons
The will to risk love and sanity, offer
All my purity, a collection never redeemed,
Unwilling to sacrifice naïve intentions,
Where childlike touching gives way
To powerful loving revelations.

         I'm fueled by the innocence,
         Comforted by the reassurance,
         Your whispered words of
         Tolerance…

         The nights are peaceful,
         Quiet moments more tranquil,
         The absence of touch so
         Meaningful…

         We've built on a foundation
         Untapped, relied on the sedation
         Of sultry union,
                 Loved first with the mind,

…loved last with love's bodily division.
