This One's ItA Poem by ColetteSome love never dies
I linger, and
I listen
to a Randy Newman song
I Miss You
12 years gone by
separated by time
distance
my poor health, but really
I am so alive!
I have no regrets
I wouldn’t trade my cats
my friends
my lovers
to go back, but
If only I could bring you here
with me
today
I miss you.
You are the only one
I pine over
Anyone else, I cry one day
laugh the rest
You
I cry for even today
I dream of you, and wonder
Do you dream of me?
Like how we shared the same dream
of a squirrel
I wonder if you were there in the dream I had
with me?
I still love you so.
You have another girl
She seems somewhat like me
A younger, healthier version
able to bear children - and has
given you two
You are the lucky one
I am the lonely one
with a Lucky Charms tattoo
I wouldn’t want to disrupt
your comfortable life, but
I would like for you to see me now
See how alive I am
See what I create, how I interact
with people, with animals
with you.
You would adore me today
I am everything I should have been
but couldn’t be
then
and more
I’m different, but the same
Improved
Enlightened
Eager to solidify
the meaning of this life
Where everything happens for a reason
I want to believe
You are meant to be where you are, and
I am meant to be wherever I land
I just needed to write
something
to tell you
I still love you, and
This One’s It.
