grandiloquence

grandiloquence

A Poem by Colette
"

lonely in the land of dreams

"

3am I awoke from a dream
I was speaking loquaciously
Ebonics
slang
and gibberish
the Latinas were perusing into my mouth
as a youthquake was erupting from it

i also dreamt about my mother
doing laundry
i was dolorous, nearly
throwing myself at her ankles
weeping at the edge of a bed
“Please don’t leave me
no one will ever love me like you”

the clock ticks from 3 to 4
i attempt to ameliorate my existence
filtering memories through my mind’s eye
maneuvering past the beyond painful
waiting for my deus ex machina
to move like august through my door
and deliver plentitude

who do i call at 3:17?
who cares if i’m wide awake?
who will walk with me
in the quiet of the past midnight air?
where’s my benison in human clothes
to move me from this quiescent state?

i’ve become a sinuous creature
esurient for our basic needs
i’m a wanderer
seeking
the lotusland
expressing to you in sotto voce

i want love

yep, it did actually - the good ol' dictionary.com was by my side for some of these lines - thanks for the push in the right direction, love learning things
a good line here: "who do i call at 3:17?"
something that always keeps me up nights wondering, who is my 3am person...?
keep writing, i'll keep reading
