I'm a widow

I'm a widow

A Poem by Colette

I have no family
I'm a widow of death
Since I was six
I'm a shadow of divorce

A concubine corpse
And when my mommy died
Ain't sure how I stayed alive
So many needles
So many medical mistakes
So much mystery
Behind this face
These eyes won’t tell u lies
But how many look?

To see the pain, behind these smile lines

My purpose?

It’s in my grand imagination.
I'm seeking my epiphany to guide me

Where I can Live, And Thrive, and really, Really

BE alive.
I've busted through 9 Lives tryin’

Now, I’m just survivin’

Bona fide hustler...a ghost...cloud chaser

Invisible to most

You don't even know the she-it I've been divin’

I'm a widow
Of gunshots
Of stabs
Of cancer
And crucifixes
That's me - the black Jesus
The black sheep
The Creole spirit
Creepin
Thrashin
Meditating on birds and squirrels
And small slivers of sunlight
And that black cat bunting

Trying to welcome someone into MY colony

Til I end up...in that velvet underground
