27A Poem by ColetteThis was a challenge for my poetry group the Almost Dead Poets Society...to take lines from 27 of your own poems n shape a new one...here's mine!
As I plummet from the full moon Monday Sneakers filled with yesterday’s adventure Knowledge of the future threatens my immortal spirit
We live in a world of fanciful illusions Our polka dot universes were inclined to collide but mystery is part of the package of this little freak Einstein, fine like I’m the Mad Hatter
But the signs told me to go this way
I passed a black horse meandering toward a white horse in a wide open field A cool, blue pond, streaming from my body He turns a moment into the Atlantic Ocean from flashbacks of needles, and gunshots, and hospitals, and prisons, and... while I was lodged between an iceberg and a drunk We vomit the goin-thru-the-motions sickness
BECAUSE I JUST WANT SOMETHING DEEPER
I roam cemeteries. Because, somehow I feel alive there. who am I...because...u had a wife who they said had died it’s a dream where we hug the dead
It’s dessert from the tropics of which you speak You are pale sand slipping through my fingertips Your blues are like drunken mortar
I deserve my own personal Jesus a coconut almond skull Let the lovebird into my caged bird cage
Who did u say “I love you” to yesterday?
My father told me “You’ll never see the end of war in your lifetime.” © 2013 ColetteFeatured Review
