My Funny ValentineA Poem by Colettemetaphor/simile challenge for the Almost Dead Poets SocietyDeath dances near my heart, and I pirouette away I am the cherry blossom of spring Queen of new beginnings
You are pale sand slipping through my fingertips I tried to build a sand castle out of you but... You don’t know where to call home
I want to wear you... You are vintage clothing, suiting my style fitting comfortably, but now gone in vintage luggage leaving decades behind these years
You were like that piece of tiny chocolate on my tray I carried you around Took you high and brought you low... Lost you
When you have the sun of another planet keeping you warm, I am forgotten... You are like a dark eyed Junco visiting only when winter moves you my way
I am like a painter’s palette... The confusion of black and white viewpoints taints me and... I become mud
You were the soft grass I laid down on I was like a fairy, and you were my ending, and now, I’m lost somewhere between then and now
I am a poem. That’s all that I am...words on a page made of something like water... Something...like my tears © 2013 ColetteAuthor's Note
