On a foggy nightA Poem by William Listonfree verse; inspired by stars I love foggy nights, seeing specks of mist play in the sky as stars, with their faint beams, peer through dusty clouds ... humid air seeping through my lungs as I daze upon my dreams. On nights like this, I see faces hidden in the stars, and they have eyes as real and piercing as the demons dancing in my imagination. I envision them ― their piercing gazes concealed behind distant darkness and fuming fog. Tonight, I'm among those stars, a fiery inferno raging within me. Step too close, and the flame within my eyes will scorch your bare skin, for tonight, my heart is sharper than a raven's claw pierced through stainless steel. My soul surges with freedom, as my speech, like space and time itself, resembles the clamorous sounds of a soft symphony, shattering like painted glass against a shrouded rose. © 2017 William ListonAuthor's Note
