Insomnia

A Poem by Cole Spire
"

Keep in mind, i wrote this at 5 am in the morning at a greyhound station in L.A. I hadn't sleept in well, since 9 am the morning before. So yeah i was tired, but couldn't sleep cause i was not gonna fall asleep in no damned bus station!

"

Insomnia:

The nights are long
Sometimes they are too long.
You sit as the second hand seems to fly by
A propeller of a bi-plane.
You feel your eye lids droop
Getting heavy.
Weights dropping off.
Forcing them down, wanting you to sleep.
Do you listen?
Or do you fight?
I choose to remain awake.
Stay up as long as i can.
Hallucinations and head aches.
They pass.
Keep my eyes open.
For nightmares dwell in slumber.
Nightmares we all run from.

I wouldn't want to fall asleep in a bus station either! I really liked this. It explains perfectly the feeling of heavy eyelids and not wanting to give in to them. I do it a lot when I'm watching a particularly interesting movie. It really is too bad nightmares always catch up wit us anyways.... Awesome poem :)

Brilliant. I can relate very well to this. Nightmares are indeed what we run from, so rather stay awake to prevent us from running into what we fear!

Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good job. I've had those kinds of nights when I just couldn't fall asleep. You captured the scene very well. Lovely.
