Alarm ClocksA Poem by Cole HayleyI never was one for simplistic writing. I never liked writing about war, or any other kinds of disasters. But for some reason I wrote about a car accident one day. I still don't know why..Are you an angel? Has the time finally arrived? I've made up so many false alarms by now, I can't even hear the sirens anymore. I've been driving on this same road for four years, And It's hard to believe that it will all end here. The car crash is only the start of it. The oil is trickling down the sidewalk, And theres always a spark when the powers out. The ambulance is down at the drive through And today the machines are slow. Its alright though. It's been a long day. And its got to end sometime... The rush hour traffic is still creeping by, Like ghosts with their metallic transparency Just managing to pass by the wreckage Probably on their way to the drive through too. You know, I never thought I'd be the one trapped under, But what can you do when your not the victim. The fire department and the police just got here, Still no sign of the ambulance, No helicopter, No television reporters. But who know's. I can't hear the siren's anyways. After so many years of alarm clocks and fire drills, I've become peacefully sedated. Completely okay with everything from here on out. © 2012 Cole HayleyAuthor's Note
