I Can Give You It

I Can Give You It

A Poem by Cole Hayley

I Can Give You It

I can give you it

The antenna that scrapes your

underbelly and grazes your sores

whenever you wish

for it to be

I can give you it

The preacher on the sand dunes

waving you back to land

from the hot air ballon

you stole from me

Forgiving --

the molten air you

blew into my lungs

every time we kissed

I can give you it

The veins that speak like

tree branches and burrow into

your flesh and make your

limbs swell

I can give you it

The florescent orb

stapled on a golden arch

that you wear on your finger

until the day you sell

Forgiving --

the holes in the clay

that morphed into what

we considered as "us"

I can give you it

the peace of mind

and everything else

that my walking shadow

serves

I can give you it

The blueness of

the day-sky and

everything else that you

deserve

nice piece of work.
I like the way you keep the readerzoned out till the last paragraph where someone gets to know actually what its all about:-)
good job.

I was kind of hoping for the title to be repeated again at the end....you use such broad vocab and the rythem is finely cut,the final paragraph was especially moving, good work Sir.

I normally hate break-up type poems even more so than bad love poems, but I really like this.
Please everyone read that statement and the rest of this review carefully before responding to that, please.
there's a couple places where I wanted to make a wording suggestion but a voice in my head became quicksand and swallowed me and yelled 'shut up' into the world I could eventually no longer see and hear. There's too f*****g much right with this poem for all that, and even the thought of hypothetical perfection bores me to contrived tears.
The imagery is visually painful like a vw curb feeler against a median when you've already got a migraine and a toothache, while remaining beautiful, like the capturing of the experience through great cinematography
anyone who doesn't know how top shelf a compliment that is needs to go do some more drugs
well done...your latest poem will make more sense now and after I see the film

Beautiful Cole! My interpretation was unconditional love being given, marriage, a life of happiness after bein hurt. Maybe that's just me though...all the same, another great piece from you!

sounds like someone who has been repeatedly hurt by someone he or she truly loves and will always be forgiving. so sad.

Great video. It's so immaterial that I lose focus because you're trying to contain a universe within one author. Nice instrumental. Cool video. Just downloaded it!

This was wonderful Cole, I actually like the quirky way you say "I can give it to you" but I can put a twist on it to make it a bit unlike anyone else. :)

When we realize how wonderful some of our gifts are, we realize the true nature of loss others may have gone through. Great write Cole.
