Brainstem (9/11)

Brainstem (9/11)

A Poem by Cole Hayley
"

Fuel & Pollen, part 3.

"

Brainstem (9/////////11////)

Behaviour, logic escapes in the for most. Flowers can't subtract numbers,

but they feel for loyalty, or at least, I think. Human beings,

"Homo Sapiens", don't care much for loyalty, I think, at least.

Dogs are loyal, I'm sure, they sleep well on leashes too.

Definitely, we are all so sorry for ourselves,

                                                         S E L F I S H,

but thats okay. Its erotic as well.

People, I see them as faceless blurs, in little flickers of time.

Sometimes they pretend to be real, just as dogs are loyal,

and cats are malevolent, I know, it's a fact.

I like being alone for these reasons, or at least, I think. There

will always be some reason to be alone, most defiantly,

                                                                                                      its comforting.

Author's Note

Cole Hayley
This is by no means a patriotic piece. This is not pro USA, this just talks about human behaviour. The 9/11 is added into the tittle because it is fitting. This is part 3 of Fuel & Pollen.

Life is a crap shoot, dogs are loyal, to a fault, but try backing one into a corner beating it with a stick and see what happens. Cats just don't give a f-k, they know you clean up their s**t, they know they own you, not the other way around, humans are like cats, some more loving than others but they, for the most part, are self serving. Throw religious zealous into the mix and you get 911. But the basics, of the debase human nature can / always convince it's self of any cause,
to justify the means of hatred, it's not race related, it's culture related, what is taught to a child, to the dog of society, loyalty to cause even if the cause is twisted, as long as they believe it's right, if it makes sense to them or not , there will always be followers and leaders.

So I'm not the only one who calls humans "homo sapiens" it comes to the point where you don't respect a huge amount of them that you have to refer to them by thier species. They don't deserve the title "people" that's for humans of refinement. I love your poem. :)

A rejection and the isolation that derives itself from the experience would be comforting.... to think again the circumstances, the social norms and the will of the individual.

Hard to understand the human race. Heading toward a bad ending and increasing the pace to find death. Thank you for the thoughts provoking poetry.

Human nature its always selfish in its own ways..deferring on the emotions we have..the last stanza reminds me of my short poem alone...
Insecurity is my enemy
lonesome is my friend
Emptiness is my safe haven..
