And Everything That Will Be

And Everything That Will Be

A Poem by Cole Hayley
"

I won't let you fall apart.

"

And Everything That Will Be.

Stained with the clamour of this age-old daunted muse

we lie in the echoes of the celestial capsizing moon,

underneath the ripples of the parting billow.

Our rusted hairline slips down past our contorted spine

and flows into the corruption of this rocky loam.

We wait for the empyrean funeral to levigate us into pieces

and filter our bodies through the overlooking  pageantry oasis.

But it never did come to that.

Cursed to be the children of an imperial beauty

we will never live up to our sacred allure or tedious prospect.

Instead we will whisper secrets into the magnetic horizon's ear

filling it with tiny excuses for everything that once was.

The orders of desultory chance that brought us here is staggering.

I cannot calculate the delicacy of this artistry bloom

and I also cannot immerse myself into its captivating womb.

But it will never come to that.

Well Cole, I have to say that since I have been a reviewer I honestly never read something with so many complicated words!!! Well I have, but those people are the writers I hate...The people who just write big words because they learned them yesterday and just throw them into a sentence that never makes sense...Its as confusing as complicated as reading the owner's manual for a Ferrari 599 GTO....But you use those large and complicated words in a delicate and brilliant manner...A manner of sense and understanding...This itself is definitly not the greatest poem I have ever read but it is the most complex...In a very good way...Good job Cole..

So mysterious... Care to talk about it?

I am not familiar with the word "levigate" yet it seems to fit this poem.

Just for comparison purposes, here's the image that this poem conjures for me -- a decrepit, rusted-out city, perhaps barely inhabited for quite some time, its survivors having forgotten the secrets of its building and living above an apocalyptic vista filled with relics of humanity's most grandiose dreams.

What was the image or concept you originally started with?
