Here Lies Everything That Once Was

Here Lies Everything That Once Was

Along the winding path you will see an empty clearing

This is the place where everything became so weary

This is the place that I have dreamt about these past few nights.

Falling apart like the splitting hairs of a leukaemia angel

That tumbles to the ground in a soft bliss.

We have been talking about leaving this place for years.

These teardrops never had meaning until now

And every one of them has a surrogate feeling

Broken into a million pieces like a shattered mirror.

The shade from the trees will keep you in the dark

Safe from the visualization of my dissolving wings

And from the sounds of my withering melody.

Never before has such a wicked story come true

Swept clean from any shades of a silver lining

But still stained from the perseverance of time.

Along the winding path you will come across an empty clearing

When you get there you will know what to do.

A nice poem. I love the last line, which is true to life. There are situations that you may get thrown in, and you can say you know what your going to do in that particular situation, but really, you don't know until it hits you.

This poem had a sad feel about it. To me, it was about a person who was trapped and was so desperate to escape this horrid place that they just wanted to leave and didn't care where this path took them, as long as they got out.

Good work

At some point the messages we have been reviewing take on a stark new reality and knocks us off our feet. But we do learn to get up again.

I was seeing a world after the apocalypse while reading your poem. I saw a father to his son, sending away to a safer place, a place for shelter, a place of hope. Your poem falls to the kind of poems that make readers think. A poem that gives you fragments of images and leaves you to your own interpretation. Like a freedom wall.

Another great piece!

really poignant.the title itself is captivating.these lines are exquisite-
These teardrops never had meaning until now
And every one of them has a surrogate feeling
Broken into a million pieces like a shattered mirror.

Never before has such a wicked story come true
Swept clean from any shades of a silver lining
But still stained from the perseverance of time.

I think you should substitute the word visualization with something else..somehow it seems to ruin the flow-
Safe from the visualization of my dissolving wings

beautiful piece altogether.kudos

I am so superficial, but I just couldn't read your poem...the width is to great and the length is too short...it really turns my eyes off...
