OniomaniaA Poem by Cole Hayley238Oniomania Your petty disguise is f*****g brillant A little sliver of trivial indulgence in every stitch, Engrossing little pretentious fingerprints placed over every inch, All tided up with the most enormous scarlet bow. You bought it from that new store downtown A store filled with trap doors and tiny nooks. The only way to get in was to know the secret password, That 3 digit pin on the back of your credit card, They always were the most selective club. Their wardrobe is stuffed with the latest fashion, As they hide their decrepit fabric in the alleyway. They are just running on the friction of middle-aged wives, Charging up their cash registers wIth every compulsory impulse, Keeping oniomania by the seat of their pants. I went down there one time and bought a sun hat, One laced with gold plated ribbons And stuffed with cardboard. It was the phoniest piece of headwear that ever left the runway But for some reason I felt obligated to wear it everyday. © 2012 Cole HayleyAuthor's NoteReviews
