in league with the treetops

in league with the treetops

A Poem by Daniel Atkinson
"

peace.

"
today in a daydream
i asked you how it felt
to be in league with the treetops.

you kinda laughed
and pointed somewhere between
your lungs and
your earliest memory
and said,
"it's all written
in here."

I spent the day with my girlfriend working outside her mother's boyfriend's house. I saw a tree and thought of the title.

If the entire poem weren't a masterpiece, these words would easily claim the title: "somewhere between
your lungs and
your earliest memory"
your creativity astounds me, and I envy your talent.
