coffee shop

A Poem by Daniel Atkinson

i'll take my coffee black,
black like the world.

a tired analogy, maybe,
but opinions were never my strong suit.

to be honest,
shot-to-the-bone honest,
i'd just as soon
suck on snake poison
than have a cup of your
pig-s**t brew.

but,
just today,
i'll drink.

because sometimes if i grimace enough
it helps me forget
i have a face.
