pragmatic

pragmatic

A Poem by Daniel Atkinson
"

a portrait of a falsely wise person.

"
you,
boisterous hermit--
you hide behind yourself
with every stubborn intention
like some pragmatic god
faced with a sinner's redemption.

i hear you--
i hear your sputtered fallacies
costumed as steely arrogance.
tell me your lies
and i'll tell you silence.

I feel like I know the kind of person you're talking about here, which is just a sad-but-true fact of life. Pretty much everyone knows that person, and you did a great job of painting a simple picture of that person. Really relatable, but at the same time shows your personal view of the type of person.
Really good write.
