paint the town

paint the town

A Poem by Daniel Atkinson
"

a poor man's night on the town.

"
i been savin' my money
penny by penny,
dollar by dollar,
just for this one night.
ain't a fortune,
but i guess it'll do
for dinner and a movie.

don't got much
'cept for a wonky t.v.
and a bust-up car,
but you don't need a cadillac
to make love in the back.

you and me, babe,
we're dressed to kill,
so let's boogie, darlin'--
let's paint the town dead.

I adore this poem x] I actually laughed. This is a night I would love to experience one day.
And it sounds as if you were a young man in the 30's. You're so good with viewing the world though so many different lenses.

It is a great poem. I love the voice and sound of it. I have seen and read and felt for so many sad poems and this is refreshing to hear.

I LOVE the voice of this poem. You always do a great job of matching the narrator's tone with the events and setting.
