stumble

stumble

A Poem by Daniel Atkinson
"

nothing special but i'm hammered.

"
drunk again and it hurts.
missed a step to feel the rush
stars and swimming
let it last, just let it last.
fifty years is a long time to feel the hurt
and at twenty five i'm staring down the barrel
i missed a step along the way
and i'm trying to find my feet again
they're below me and singing their song
wish i could remember the tune.
it all ends and here's the proof.
