Reach for Me

Reach for Me

A Poem by Colby

What am I doing here?

Where am I going?
I'm stuck in a damn whirlpool
swimming for all I'm worth
But I can't fight my way out of the current.
My arms are throbbing as I claw for the edge.
Water falls in my eyes, blurs my vision
as I look for someone

Anyone.
Something to save me

In the distance I see you
watching me drown
Rope in your hand
What will you do?

Just when I think I know you...
What is that face?
Looking through me without seeing me
You are the only one who can rescue me

With my last breath I reach for your hand
As I start to slip away our eyes meet
Water covers my head
leaving my outstretched hand alone above the waves

Please...

Reach for me.
Save me.

Not sure when you posted this. I've read it before. Thought I already left a review, but oh well. The picture of the hand outstretched above the water is a very vivid one. This leaves a strong impact. Great title. Good work!
