Daguerreotype

Daguerreotype

A Poem by Vertigo Cat1111

Every molecule of your chest
Every breath that is left
A beautiful death
At a beautiful theme park
Now it’ll rot
But stand from the ground
Only blood, dirt and rusty steel will be found

I have memories
That I never made
I’m tired
But this is the game I have played
You know it looks like the oldest camera in the world
But as we spin around our own little bubble
I like it like that

It’s mechanical and huge
But I don’t have room
My eyes are bigger than my stomach
And I don’t know how to run it

your title made me think of the only picture of Emily Dickinson...and it was done that way.
But this reminds me of a rollercoaster ride at Rivervew near Chicago...when we would drive by the park after it was defunct...and the ride was still there...rusted, broken, in disuse.
much like a relationship that I had once with a woman who who worked at Adventure Land...west of Chicago.
The cotton candy lady.
nostalgia has its life and beautiful death.

"My eyes are bigger than my stomach"

I pray I never have to learn this lesson again. As always, Cat, your writing is excellent, and stands apart from other offerings I see on this site. You have a unique voice, and it's one I love hearing

you are reminiscing about a lost person who may have taken her last breath at this defunct amusement park.....nothing works anymore, old, rusty mechanics... and and old camera, perhaps not even functional; but one still has memories to keep.... and that's what matters now. A nostalgic trip to an empty place.
Nice write, Cat
