Laundry Day

I do your laundry
You always forget to wash
Or maybe choose not to
Either way, I really don’t care

Since I’ve known you
It’s your absolute least favorite thing
Basically your worst enemy
I’ll always do some extra heavy lifting

I’ll be careful
Never to mix the red and whites
I know that one time
That monster you lived side by side with ruined your overcoat
You can trust me blind

You pick up and put on
Whatever’s stained a little less
I think that’s cute
I love you

This is a somewhat cynical poem... as one person seems to be doing all the drudge work with a droll smile, while the other just keeps taking out less stained clothes instead of helping with the washing... there must be a two way street here...or else.... but the speaker nonetheless says "I love you"

Some wry humour in this one. I'm retired now, but my wife still works, so I do most of the laundry. I never mix reds with whites! My wife doesn't like pink! lol! Washing the laundry is an easier task than ironing it all! I do iron my own shirts though! Thanks for posting this fun poem!

Fun poem to read earl this morning while waiting for a cup of coffee.
I do all the laundry and always separate everything.
Jut easier that way.

If you are a guy then i assume you are in the west where one or the other of the couple have to do the laundry, here in the East we have dhobis or paid domestic helpers who do it for us.
So if you're a guy helping out you're of the good guys and this poem is superbly written too. Kudos!!

I can imagine the facial expression. Slightly grumpy and perturbed. Everyone has that one chore they loath. You captured part of the daily grind of what can happen if you mix the colors. Put a huge grin on my face.
