Macabre Confetti

Macabre Confetti

A Poem by Vertigo Cat1111
"

‘Every night, I live and die, feel the party to my bones’- Lorde

"
All that matters is today and tommorow
Tired of f*****g up
Causing my own sorrows
I celebrate all alone
In the barn
With the macabre confetti
But I know you’re still here with me
I knew about you since day one
On the drive home
I had never seen the sun
Paintbrushes and hay
I ran away back in May
How could I stay the same
The rebellion broke my heart
It was a tragic handshake from the start

My battery kept running out
Till I charged up an electric acoustic beat
You hurt them, you hurt me

I always wished I could paint the sun shining on the town when it’s dawn
All the fields
The people who said it was nothing
All are wrong
Songs dance around the wishing well in the morning
Go ahead
Grab what you wanted from the stair well
But I promise it’ll be hell
If you remember every smile, every hour
Nightmares every night dreaming about
When you got your powers
But it’s worth it
Every memory
Every afternoon lunch I had
I miss it
I want it so bad

My heart’s full of vertigo
And that’s all I know
The signs are warning you to come back
If you leave after the sun peaks
You won’t last
Christmas lights
In your delicate relics of veins
Bubbles hover in this town
I locked myself in a closet
All the way back in California

This was tender and tough and quite beautiful. It sifts through the reader's feelings like panning for emotional gold. It pulls at the heartstrings and moves us along in solemn and contemplative thought dissecting our relationships and leaving one wondering at meanings, memories and emotions. It speaks of dysfunctional family ties (we all have those, I think) and the challenge of balancing the bad against the good. It's a remarkable piece of writing. I read it twice and enjoyed it both times. Well done!

More spoken word? :)
The heartbreak here is visceral. You tear the reader's heart out and show it to them while it is still beating! Incredible!

You are always welcome, good Cat. The world is better for the beauty you leave in it.
This is such a complex worthwhile write. I think that is why I find it so appealing. It covers so many bases in relationships. I am at a loss to find a favorite. It also fits itself together so well despite the inherent complexity both odf the subject and the form.

Pretty much like a singing song to me. this is intense, full with frustrated anger, I feel a war-love relationship, a bittersweet love, a love that You know it's dangerous yet You can't let go of... like an addiction. so You live and sway in this between two worlds of confusion. the fear of coming back and the fear of letting go. locking yourself inside your memories and art. hopefully one day a strong force will get You out of there to a much better place. You write with an original ink, a personal sincere touch, I always respect and admire this. all the best my dear ❤️
