Wow! This was a one/two punch to my gut. It really hit me hard. Here's why. My mother (I lost her back in 2011) used to wake me up every morning saying, "Rise and shine, baby boy, it's time to get up." I was the youngest of ten children. And seven of us still survive. And then, there's the line from "You are my sunshine." It was my mother's favorite song and it's engraved on the tombstone above my mother and dad's final resting place in a little place called Center Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. I was primary caregiver for my mother the last five years of her life. I promised I would never let them put her in a nursing home and I kept my word. It was the hardest job I've ever had but one nobody else wanted. When she died I was quite literally, lost. I'm sorry for such a wordy review of such a short poem. I just wanted to share the impact of your words on my heart and try (to some extent) to explain why it had such an impact on me. It's like you peeked inside my soul to find these words.

Well you certainly know how to flatten a person's tires! This was Rock in the road that sent me over the handlebars!
Where indeed? When the compass breaks one can become quite lost indeed. It's a scary feeling being alone in the the dark. Makes a body wonder if morning will ever come. So much in do few words... Well done.

You’re very welcome, and I always love your reviews😊
My favorite poems are short but say so much. This is very well done and even a little playful for such a sad sentiment. Very unique and relatable. A very enjoyable read, keep it up!
