Crossroads

Crossroads

A Poem by Vertigo Cat1111
"

‘But you’re not what you thought you were.’- Lorde

"
I’m at a crossroads
And this time I don’t know
Where to go
What to do
All the arms I could fall into

Careful and kind and pink
Everything and all the things I did and didn’t need

Brave and resourceful and broad
It’s just a lot
Chlorine flames when you talk

A lavender, genius useful mind
Gotta find a way
To make this all mine
Before I miss another Christmas time

Fluff, and amber alien magic
Any choice and every choice could be the end
Underhand tragic

Bad dreams
Of when it wasn’t all of you and all of me
Ivy creeps along my heart and holds it taught

Maybe It’ll be worth the work
And all the hurt

And now I don’t think I could go back even if I wanted too

We will meet in the rubble
Its just another night lost
Just another line crossed

It’s a little too real
To much of what I wanted
Pink, teal, purple and green
Butterflies in my stomach
Too many
Too scary
Raindrops hop in my heart
Standing in a bridal dress
The gray bridge to the moons left
And what’s left?

There’s only so many times
You can live again
Till it all ends
How could I possibly believe I’m beautiful
When you’re not here?
There’s only so many feelings you can feel
Till it’s all done and gone away
I wish I remembered
Reached for the spotlight
On a cold late winters night
Into the New Years
Without any fear
I can take it from here
Part two
New start of my life
Roller coaster in the clouds
And the thunder is still loud
I’ll do whatever it takes to keep the peace
Debate and defeat monsters
They fall to their knees

You’ll never stop being you
It’s something I could get used to
I don’t listen to much revenge songs anymore
Cause I’ve forgiven
I’ve especially been forgotten

The sound of the tape rewinding
Takes me back to memories
They say I didn’t have to but
We get to wake up and do it all over again

I think I’d like it
I’d think I’d like all of us
All alone
Lost in the flashing golden neighborhood
Each one of you is something that’s good

Author's Note

Vertigo Cat1111
A bit of a longer one, I remember when I wrote this one, it was that sort of poem that just... all splats on the page and basically had more control of itself than I did. Those poems that make themselves can be the best.

There seem to be a thousand thoughts bundled into this. A life turned tipsy turvy by a break up is what stands out. The mind reels from what feels like a minor cataclysm. And here, thoughts have rushed out if your head like water through a busted pipe. An overwhelming, emotional write.
