Early Summer

Early Summer

A Poem by Vertigo Cat1111
"

‘We used to joke, and it felt like home’- The Griswolds

"
The rain come down
Washed away my frown
Finally realized
Hey I’m okay without you around

My heart grew
And I learned
Though I’d been scorned and burned
I got my turn

And got a treasure higher in gold content than you

You told me I was worth something on the drive back home from home

Magenta and green
If you know what
I mean
Make me laugh
Split at the seams
You told me
I was worth something
On the drive home
From home
You somehow always know what I mean
Is it possible your real?
Is it possible how I feel?

The mountain peaks
I can still see
Without you here
And when you’re gone
I found love goes on
Whether I wanted it too or not

Mentors, friends, lovers... Sometimes they all get bound together in an unrecognizable tangle and with them our emotions. All these things in one person raise that person to a monolith in our lives. One which we worship, fear, loath, adore, and a myriad of other less well defined emotions.
Again, the impressions of a half educated hillbilly.

Nice ending revelation after such a dreary write...you do a nice job at redemption in the end. Nice job.

love goes on, even without the one you chose; and for that person to degrade you in that way is deplorable; but you are able to move on, a sort of cleansing, if you will that a new path may be in store for you, a better one hopefully. very well written.
Best,
Betty

Love goes on whether I wanted it to or not.
well it does that, and sometimes the most impossible love is the most real.

it is a shame that we need others to tell us our worth, and too often can't see it for ourselves,
I felt this...and am surprised that of 38 views there was not one comment, but then...no, I am not that surprised...
feedback is everything on a site like this....
even negative feedback can tell us there was some effect caused by the poem.
But nothing? too much of that these days.
shame.
